1987 FA Charity Shield
The 1987 FA Charity Shield was a football match between Everton and Coventry City at Wembley on Saturday the 1 August 1987. Everton had won the 1986-87 Football League and Coventry had won the 1987 FA Cup Final to qualify for the season opener for the first time. It was played two weeks before the new league season kicked off. This was Everton's fourth successive appearance in the Charity Shield. The match was shown live on ITV with commentary from Brian Moore and Ian St. John.[1] Wayne Clarke scored the only goal in the first half to win the trophy for Everton.[2]
